Claudio Bobadilla

Claudio was born in Los Angeles, Chile. He spent most of his youth in southern Chile and moved to Punta Arenas in 2003. He graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the University of Magallanes and holds a master’s degree in Naval and Oceanic Engineering from the University of Valdivia. In 2005, he had his first experience in Antarctica after joining Antarctica21’s logistic support team and was in that role until 2013. He then worked as a port agent and coordinator of Antarctic programs with a Chilean maritime agency. In 2016, he returned to Antarctica21, taking on the role of Ship Operations Manager, in charge of the company’s port operations. From 2017 to 2019, during the construction of Magellan Explorer, Claudio was the shipowner’s representative. Claudio is now Head of Antarctica21’s Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Department.
