We are thrilled to announce an exciting development in the world of Antarctic exploration. Building on our legacy of providing boutique, small-ship expeditions to the White Continent, Antarctica21 is proud to introduce the latest addition to our fleet: Magellan Discoverer, set to embark on voyages in the 2026-27 Antarctic season.
Magellan Discoverer is a promise of innovative design and environmental stewardship, crafted as a sister ship to the esteemed Magellan Explorer. While mirroring its sibling in elegance and style, Magellan Discoverer charts its own course with remarkable enhancements.
Magellan Discoverer will be built at the ASENAV shipyard in Valdivia, Chile, the same shipyard that built Magellan Explorer.

Deck Plans & Cabins
The boutique vessel offers five accommodation categories. All cabins feature private balconies and a king-size bed that can be converted into twin beds. Each cabin has a wardrobe, individual heating control, a sitting area, and a private bathroom with a shower.

Magellan Discoverer
This is one of the highest environmental standards for residual emissions, andcompliance is achieved through Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems, which significantly reduce engine emissions
Advanced retractable fin stabilizers reduce the ship’s rolling motion in rough seas, giving you a smoother, more comfortable ride through the Drake Passage and beyond. They also minimize drag, which means better fuel efficiency on every voyage.
Dedicated wet and dry lab support researchers who need to collect and analyze marine samples from the Southern Ocean. Guests are invited to participate in citizen science programs in partnership with international institutions.
This system converts seawater into freshwater through advanced filtration, ensuring a constant supply for onboard use and reducing reliance on shore-based water resources.
Advanced anti-fouling coating prevents marine organisms from attaching to the hull. This helps reduce drag and minimizes environmental impact by avoiding harmful biocides found in older coatings.
The system uses treated seawater to maintain vessel stability and trim, ensuring safe and efficient operations while adhering to environmental regulations to avoid ecological disruption.
This on-board digital solution monitors and optimizes fuel consumption and operational energy efficiency, contributing to reduced emissions.
On board the ship, waste management meets MARPOL and IMO requirements: waste is segregated, tracked, safely stored, compacted, and secured until delivery to authorized port facilities, minimizing environmental impact.
The Atmos Air system uses bipolar ionization with duct-mounted sensors to continuously reduce contaminants and allergens.
The vessel is equipped with an integrated heat recovery system that captures waste heat from engine exhaust gases through a dedicated exhaust gas economizer. The recovered thermal energy is reused primarily for the ship’s HVAC and hot water systems, significantly reducing reliance on fuel-fired boilers.
